









Original WWII US Navy Map Of Manila Philippines USS WASP Targets 8″ x 16″. This is an original World war II era map of USS WASP Targets in the area of Manila in the Philippines. The map is 8″ x 16″ and folded in the middle. The date and source of publication is not marked on the map – but there are some residues of markings on the lower edge see photo #4. The USS Wasp was lost in action on 15 September 1942, after being hit by 3 torpedoes from a Japanese submarine. This map belonged to US Navy Flying Officer, Lieutenant John Albert McBrayer of Lattimore, NC. Lieutenant McBrayer survived the sinking of the Aircraft Carrier USS Wasp in 1942 and later served on the USS Yorktown. A photocopy of a newspaper article from The Charlotte News (dated 10/31/42) will be included with this lot. This is a very rare original World War II era map belonging to a true hero.
